Shiftry is a Grass-type Pokémon with 140 HP, featuring a retreat cost of two Colorless energy. It appears in the XY series as part of the XY Black Star Promos set, released on October 12, 2013. The card is a Promo rarity and was illustrated by artist Sanosuke Sakuma. Shiftry has two attacks: "Whisk Away," which costs one Grass energy and deals 30+ damage, and "Spirit Dance," requiring three energy (Grass and two Colorless) for 60+ damage. The "Whisk Away" attack allows the player to force the opponent to reveal their hand, then place a chosen Pokémon from that hand onto the bottom of their deck, increasing damage by 30 if done. The "Spirit Dance" attack involves flipping two coins, adding 30 damage for each head. Shiftry’s flavor text describes it as a forest guardian capable of reading an opponent’s mind and acting preemptively.
