How to choose a Pokémon card app

Five questions decide which app fits how you collect.

  • Do you scan a lot? Check what the free plan allows: some apps charge for the scanner or for unlimited scans.
  • Do you collect Japanese cards? Look for Japanese set lists and a scanner that reads Japanese prints.
  • Where do the prices come from? Named marketplaces, like Cardmarket, TCGplayer and eBay, are easier to check than unnamed ones.
  • Do you own graded slabs or sealed product? Only some apps price them.
  • What does a year cost? Compare the yearly plans, not only the monthly price.

How we compared

We compared each app on what its own website, help pages and App Store listing say, and on its current App Store prices. Where an app doesn’t state something, this page says so instead of guessing. Pooka is our app, so every claim about the other apps links to its source at the bottom of the page.

Apps for Japanese cards

Japanese collectors also use apps that rarely show up in English searches. All three are in Japanese only.

  • ポケカトラッカー (Pokeka Tracker): daily prices from Japanese marketplaces such as Snkrdunk, Mercari and Yahoo! Auctions, PSA 10 and 9 prices, price alerts and a scanner that adds a batch of cards at once.
  • DMMマイカ (DMM Myca): free collection value with the latest prices and PSA slabs, plus a card shop mall.
  • カドラバ (Kadoraba): free; add cards by photo, check prices, deck data and trading.
