Ukiyo-e Reimagined

In 2021, Pokémon collaborated with Japan Post to reimagine two famous 17th-century Ukiyo-e woodblock prints. Legendary artist Mitsuhiro Arita (creator of the OG Base Set Charizard) illustrated Pikachu as the "Beauty" and Cramorant as the "Geese."

This collaboration bridges the gap between traditional Japanese art history and modern pop culture, creating a timeless aesthetic that appeals to collectors of all kinds. The cards were released as part of a special "Stamp Box" set, which also included actual postage stamps featuring Pokémon art.

Pikachu takes the role of the "Beauty Looking Back" while Cramorant embodies the "Geese Flying Across the Full Moon".
