It appears in the Call of Legends set from the HeartGold & SoulSilver series, released on February 9, 2011. The card’s Pokédex number is 229, and it is illustrated by artist Kagemaru Himeno. Houndoom has a resistance to Psychic-type attacks, reducing damage by 20, and a weakness to Fighting-type attacks, which deal double damage. Its attacks include Fire Counterattack, which costs one Darkness energy and deals 20 damage plus 60 additional damage if the opponent controls any Fighting Pokémon. Another attack, Dark Roar, requires two Darkness energies to deal 50 damage and forces the opponent to discard a card from their hand. The flavor text describes Houndoom’s eerie howls as causing other Pokémon to flee to their nests.
