What is Mega Attack (MA) Rare?
Mega Attack Rare (often abbreviated as MA) is a brand-new rarity tier debuting in the MEGA Dream ex expansion. These premium cards bring back the excitement of Mega Evolution in the modern Pokémon TCG, featuring full-art illustrations, premium foiling, and powerful ex mechanics designed for competitive play.
All 10 Mega Attack Rare cards feature HP ranging from 250 to 370, making them among the highest-HP Pokémon in the game. Each card showcases dramatic artwork with Mega Evolution designs and attacks that scale with Energy manipulation, discard costs, or board control mechanics.
The MEGA Dream ex set includes fan-favorite Mega Evolutions like Charizard X, Gardevoir, Gengar, Dragonite, and Lucario, plus unexpected additions like Froslass, Hawlucha, Scrafty, Eelektross, and Diancie—Pokémon that have never received official Mega Evolution forms in the video games, until recently.

Energy Acceleration Strategy Cards
Several Mega Attack Rare cards excel at manipulating Energy, making them ideal for combo-focused decks. Mega Gardevoir ex can attach multiple Basic Psychic Energy cards from your deck to your Benched Pokémon with Overflowing Wishes, then deal massive damage with Mega Symphonia based on total Psychic Energy in play.
Mega Lucario ex offers a different approach with Aura Jab, attaching up to 3 Fighting Energy from your discard pile to Benched Pokémon while dealing 130 damage. Its Mega Brave attack hits for 270 damage at just two Energy cost, though it locks itself out for a turn.
These Energy manipulation effects pair perfectly with modern Scarlet & Violet support cards, allowing players to build explosive combo decks that can set up massive damage swings in a single turn.

Control and Disruption Strategies
The darker side of Mega Attack Rare focuses on disrupting your opponent's strategy. Mega Gengar ex stands out with 350 HP and Void Gale, which deals 230 damage while moving an Energy to your Bench—perfect for maintaining tempo across multiple attackers.
Mega Eelektross ex brings spread damage with Split Bomb (60 damage to 2 Pokémon) and can inflict Paralysis with Disaster Shock for 190 damage. Mega Scrafty ex takes disruption further with Outlaw Leg, simultaneously discarding a random card from your opponent's hand and milling the top card of their deck.
Mega Diancie ex rounds out the control package with Garland Ray, converting discarded Energy into 120 damage per card—a perfect fit for decks that naturally discard Energy through other card effects or attack costs.
