What are Pokémon LEGEND cards?
A Pokémon LEGEND is one Pokémon split over two cards. The top half and the bottom half have the same name, and placed one above the other they form one big card. Every LEGEND is a Legendary Pokémon, and seven of the nine show two Legendary Pokémon together, like Palkia & Dialga LEGEND.
They were only printed in the HeartGold & SoulSilver era, in 2010. Each of the four main sets from that year has two or three LEGENDs.

How do you play a Pokémon LEGEND?
You need both halves in your hand, and you put them onto your Bench at the same time. The official rulebook is clear that a LEGEND is not a Basic Pokémon, so you cannot start the game with it as your Active or Benched Pokémon. It is not an Evolution card either, and cards that search for a Basic Pokémon cannot find it.
In play the two halves count as one card. Anywhere else, like your hand, deck or discard pile, each half counts as a separate card. Because both halves share a name, the four-copy rule covers them together: four cards named Ho-Oh LEGEND in total, not four of each half.
The seven LEGENDs with two Pokémon on them also have two types and a Dual LEGEND rule: "When this Pokémon has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards." Ho-Oh LEGEND and Lugia LEGEND give up just one.

Why were LEGENDs so strong?
They had 130 to 160 HP and some of the biggest attacks of their time. Lugia LEGEND's Elemental Blast does 200 damage for a Fire, Water and Lightning Energy. Rayquaza & Deoxys LEGEND's Ozone Buster does 150, and its Space Virus Poké-Body gives you one extra Prize card for every Pokémon it Knocks Out.
The price was in the setup. You had to draw both halves, often discard Energy after attacking, and give up two Prize cards when a Dual LEGEND went down.

How much are Pokémon LEGEND cards worth?
You need both halves, so price a LEGEND as a pair. In late September 2026, the Cardmarket prices Pooka tracks put a complete Suicune & Entei LEGEND at about €50 and Rayquaza & Deoxys LEGEND at about €135, the most expensive pair. Kyogre & Groudon and Darkrai & Cresselia are close behind at about €130 each.
Darkrai & Cresselia LEGEND was reprinted in the 30th Celebration Classic Collection in September 2026, with both halves keeping their numbers 99 and 100. It is the only LEGEND reprinted in English so far.

Searching for Pokémon Legend cards also turns up several sets with a similar name: Legendary Collection (2002), Hidden Legends (2004), Legend Maker (2006), Legends Awakened (2008), Call of Legends (2011), Legendary Treasures (2013) and Shining Legends (2017). None of them contain Pokémon LEGEND cards. The 18 cards above are the only ones.
