What is the Van Gogh Pikachu card?
It is a Pokémon card of Pikachu dressed as Vincent van Gogh in his Self-Portrait with Grey Felt Hat from 1887, a painting in the Van Gogh Museum's own collection. The card is numbered SVP 085 in the Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos and was drawn by Naoyo Kimura.
It is a playable card. Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat is a 60 HP Lightning Pokémon, and its one attack, Pika-Portrait, costs a single Lightning Energy and lets you search your deck for a Pikachu and put it onto your Bench.

How was the Van Gogh Pikachu card given out?
The Van Gogh Museum ran a Pokémon exhibition from September 28, 2023 to January 7, 2024. Visitors could get the card for free by completing a Pokémon activity during their visit.
Within days, scalpers crowded the museum to collect as many cards as they could, and people were fighting over merchandise. By mid-October 2023 the museum had stopped giving the card out, citing the safety of visitors and staff. Resale prices on eBay at the time ran from about $70 to almost $500.
Was the Van Gogh Pikachu reprinted?
Yes, once, in the Netherlands. From February 10, 2024, Dutch shops including Bruna, Game Mania, Intertoys, Media Markt, Primera and Top1Toys gave one card to customers who spent at least €29.99. An estimated 100,000 copies were made available.
The card was not legal at the 2024 Pokémon World Championships. It was banned there along with other promos that had not been distributed worldwide, though it stayed legal in other Standard tournaments.
How much is the Van Gogh Pikachu card worth?
Far more than when it was handed out. In late September 2026, the Cardmarket price Pooka tracks was about €630, and eBay sales averaged about €940.
