What does δ mean on a Pokémon card?
The δ symbol, the Greek letter delta, marks a Delta Species Pokémon. It has a different type from the one the Pokémon normally has. Charmander δ from EX Crystal Guardians is a Lightning type, and Gardevoir ex δ from EX Dragon Frontiers is a Fire type.
Many Delta Species cards also have a second type, usually Metal. Mewtwo δ from EX Delta Species is Fire and Metal, and Armaldo δ from EX Holon Phantoms is Fighting and Metal. Many of the Trainer cards in these sets are named after Holon, like Holon Research Tower and Holon Transceiver.

Which sets have Delta Species cards?
Five EX sets have them. EX Delta Species (October 2005) introduced the idea with 35. EX Legend Maker (February 2006) has just one, the secret rare Pikachu δ. EX Holon Phantoms (May 2006) has 51 and EX Crystal Guardians (August 2006) has 12. EX Dragon Frontiers (November 2006) went furthest: 80 of its 101 cards are Delta Species.
The rest are promos. POP Series 4 and POP Series 5 added a handful, including Mew δ and Pikachu δ, and a Pikachu δ also came out as a Nintendo Black Star Promo. EX Power Keepers, the last EX set, has none.
EX Holon Phantoms (May 2006)
The set with the Fire-type Gold Star Gyarados.
The Gold Star Delta Species cards
Three Gold Stars are also Delta Species: Gyarados ☆ δ from Holon Phantoms, a Fire type, and Charizard ☆ δ and Mew ☆ δ from Dragon Frontiers, a Darkness type and a Water type. They are the most expensive Delta Species cards.
The other two Gold Stars in Holon Phantoms, Mewtwo ☆ and Pikachu ☆, are not Delta Species. They keep their usual types, and their names have no δ.
EX Dragon Frontiers (November 2006)
Both Gold Star Deltas and some of the ten Pokémon ex δ in the set.
How much are Delta Species cards worth?
In late September 2026, the Cardmarket prices Pooka tracks put Charizard ☆ δ at about €5,100, Mew ☆ δ at about €3,300 and Gyarados ☆ δ at about €1,100. The Legend Maker Pikachu δ sells for about €430 and Rayquaza ex δ for about €250.
Most regular Delta Species holos cost far less. Armaldo δ and Cradily δ are under €10, and Dragonite δ and Mewtwo δ from EX Delta Species are around €100.
One Delta Species card has been reprinted: Metagross δ from EX Delta Species, in the 30th Celebration Classic Collection in September 2026, with its original number 11.
